Jamal + Ashley Wedding At North Carolina Museum of Art

This wedding at the North Carolina Museum of Art was not only beautiful and special, but interesting. It was a Friday evening wedding, which is not out of the ordinary. I show up to the venue my usual 45 minutes early to get in and do my scouting, set up my gear, and anything else I need to do to prepare for the wedding. As I get out my car I see people already in their seats preparing for the bride to walk down the aisle. As you can guess… IMMEDIATE PANIC! I must have had the time wrong. I have never been late to a wedding but it looked like this was a first. I hustle over to the site and throw my bag down only to see another photographer there. Did they hire somebody else without me knowing? That is when I looked at the detail placard and see the names “Dustin + Sarah.” I walked into the wrong wedding. OOPS. While that stressor went away, another one came about… “Ok where is my couple getting married then?” I asked the venue employee about another wedding to which her response is, “There is no other wedding on the schedule for the day.” My goodness. Not only did I almost butcher somebody else’s wedding, I have NO CLUE where I am supposed to be. I start driving towards the main entrance hoping I run see something that screams wedding along the way. (If you are wondering, I only had the brides contact info and nobody else so I was kinda out of luck as far as contacting someone). Thankfully as I start to exit the parking lot, I pass a gentleman in a suit, I stop the car and ask, “Do you happen to know where Jamal + Ashley are getting married?” To which he replies, “Yeah! I’m Jamal!” Stress is gone because I have reached the point of contact. We go to the site where the ceremony will be held, which is a very ducked off part of the museum grounds, very private, and very intimate. While it was not your traditional wedding ceremony, it was a ceremony I would shoot over and over again because of the intimacy, the love, and the bond shared between the couple and the small amount of family members that were there. Now that you know the story, enjoy the pictures from this ceremony!

Reminder I am currently booking 2025-2026 and would love to be your photographer for your wedding! Head to the contact page to inquire and get your process started to be a part of the MBC family!
